Kyle Larson wins Night 1 of the Champion Oil National Open at Williams Grove World of Outlaws on October 1 (Julia Johnson Photo & Paul Arch Photo)

Say What!

“I went down the front stretch to get the white flag and just told myself, ‘do not miss this ridge’ getting into turn one and, sure enough, I missed the whole thing, I knew as soon as I was coming off two that somebody was going to have a run, and I knew one of the 19s was going to rip the top through one and two and slide me. My best option was to let him go, then hit the ridge in the middle of three and four and cross him over.” Kevin Thomas Jr winning Lawrenceburg IN USAC Sprints

"Wow, this is the highest-paying win of my career,You know I left so frustrated the first few times I came to Williams Grove because I couldn't figure it out. I was wondering how the heck other guys are so much better. Then I got in this #41 car and Philip Dietz is just amazing at giving me what I need. That's 10 wins with the Outlaws this year, I can't believe it. This team is incredible and I'm lucky to drive this thing.  Carson Macedo winning the Champion Oil National Open at Williams Grove Speedway PA

“I caught a lot of breaks tonight, I didn’t qualify well. I got a caution in the heat allowing us to get to second. Slated to start fifth in Sunday’s NASCAR race at Talladega, Larson spoke about what happened in the Friday feature event. The cautions fell during the right times during the feature. We’ll take it. Hopefully, we didn’t use our luck up for tomorrow,”  Kyle Larson winning night 1 of the Champion Oil National Open at Williams Grove Speedway PA

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Gene Marderness has been shooting at Dirt Tracks across America since the 60's. He has tons of great classic shots and we are going to post some here in Gene's Corner.

  • VSS)Virginia Sprint Series Race #17 Saturday October 2nd 2021 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series Langley Speedway Hampton, Va. Matt Mullins Hometown Hero at Langley The last race of the year had a hometown hero take the win making it two wins for the year. Heats kicked off the night with Mike Keeton and Bill Rice taking wins before it was off to the feature. Chris Ware and Matt Mullins paced the field to green with the high line the place to be as Mullins was out first with Bill Rice and Mike Keeton in tow. The pavement races fly by and Mullins was making time fly as he was smooth and strong lap after lap as Rice was not far behind but unable to close and make a charge. Rice was keeping Keeton and Billy Hubbard at a distance at the same time. After a quick yellow for a stalled car Mullins took off again and as the laps ran out he was the first under the waving checkered flag. At the line it was Matt Mullins, Bill Rice, Mike Keeton, Billy Hubbard, Mike Leraas, Bill Mullis, Chris Ware, Caleb Harris, Chris Humblet, Daren Bolac and Jerald Harris. This closes out the 2021 season and we thank all the race teams, race tracks and personnel and out series sponsors that make it all possible as we look forward to next year and our 25th season. • VSS)Virginia Sprint Series Race #16 Saturday September 25th 2021 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series Shenandoah Speedway, Virginia Billy Hubbard’s on Fire on the Mountain Billy Hubbard raced to the front like a cat with its tail on fire then paced his right rear tire which he had smoking hard to the finish for his third win of the year. The feature only event had Matt Mullins and Chris ware on the front row as they went green with Mullins out first and Ware moving to the bottom. Jerald Harris was making a quick trip up high to the front right away. By lap two he was on Mullins and going by for the lead. With Harris out front and looking strong Mike Leraas had made it to second and was chipping away at the lead with Billy Hubbard working through the field to third. As the half-way flags were shown Mike Leraas shot to the lead with Harris now holding off Hubbard who was closing. Hubbard got by Harris and took off after Leraas as Harris was having a tire go down causing him to slow. Hubbard was really leaning on his car hard to get the lead and it paid off but at a price as he was streaking away his tire was feeling it. With a few laps to go Leraas was closing back-in but he was able to hold on by a few car lengths as the checkered flag waved at the mountain speedway. At the line it was Billy Hubbard, Mike Leraas, Jerald Harris, Matt Mullins, Bill Rice, Daren Bolac, Chris Ware, Caleb Harris, Mike Keeton and French Grimes. • World of Outlaws)Not one, but two different doors opened this weekend for David Gravel, and he made sure to kick both wide open. After Brad Sweet’s struggles in 19th at Eldora, the Watertown, CT native came back the next night and took fate into his own hands by stealing the victory from Sweet himself. The end result continues to cut down the championship deficit with only nine races left for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. On Saturday, Gravel’s opportunistic actions came in the form of a daring final restart as he threaded the needle and squeezed by Sweet to slide him into turn three on Lap 23 of 35. The Big Game Motorsports #2 gasser ran off into lap traffic over the closing laps and beat Sweet to the line by 1.478-seconds.World of Outlaws  9/25
